You are worthy of belonging
Do you feel like you don’t fit?
Do you question your worth?
Do you feel like you don’t even know who you are?
Whether you are part of the LGBTQ+ community, neurodivergent, or have experienced relational or religious trauma, you may experience these things some or all of the time. You might have been made to feel less than because you don’t fit within what you were told is “normal.” You were told you had to hide parts of yourself to be accepted and loved, and now you find it hard to let those parts out without feeling shame even if it’s safer to do so. You might feel like it’s hard to connect with others because you aren’t even connected to yourself. You might have a carefully constructed “you” that you present to others, making it difficult for others to get to know the real you.
None of this is your fault, and it doesn’t reflect your worth.
I want to help you connect with yourself and the parts of you that you were told don’t belong. I am a queer person who has ADHD, and I am passionate about supporting others as they learn to accept themselves as they are and to form authentic connection and community.
I mainly use Internal Family Systems (IFS) therapy, which means that I welcome all the various parts of you and your experiences. In your inner world, these include those parts of you that you often prefer to hide or have been made to feel like you should hide. In your outer world, these include your relationships and the social and political systems you interact with.
I also incorporate sandtray therapy when words just aren’t enough. When using sandtray, you are able to choose miniatures and arrange them in a sandtray in any way that you want or that resonates. This helps you to access and express emotions and experiences in a deeper way than when you use language alone. Sandtray therapy can be used by people of all ages, and client’s are often surprised by what comes up for them. Sandtray can also be used in telehealth therapy using tools such as Minecraft and the website Simply Sand Play. Whether we meet in-person or remotely, you will have the opportunity to play in the sand.
To support your growth and healing outside of session, I will collaborate with you to identify, explore, and grow a support system so that you can experience community care and not only individualized self care. Ultimately, my aim is for you to have a stronger relationship with yourself and stronger relationships with others outside of the therapy office, which is where healing really happens. Much of my job is to get myself out of the way and let you become the leader in your own life.
